And some great news: by the end of March, beginning of April, my jewelry will be for sale in an online jewelry shop. I think I'll keep secret which shop it is for some more time, but I'm so happy with it I just needed to tell you!

Peter Callesen

A world in white paper...

"A common theme in many of my works is a reinterpretation of classical fairytales as well as a more general interest in memory in connection to childhood. ... [My works] exist in the lost land of childhood, between dream and reality and it is in this meeting or confrontation of these two conditions, in a kind of utopian embodiment, that these works of art become alive, often in a tragicomic way." --- Peter Callensen

... so beautiful you could cry.

Shoshona Snow

I have been watching Shoshhona Snow on etsy for a while. She makes gorgeous pottery in bright oranges, blues, greens and black, in a scandinavian retro style.

Last week however, I found these in her shop:

I love them so much! The subtle grey and very soft pinky inside colour just do the trick for me. These vases are simply stunning!

Treasury

Two times paperflowergirl in the treasury today!!!

Looking trough magazines...

I love to fill my life with pretty things. To go see pretty things. To go buy pretty things. For myself, or for others. To make pretty things. To receive pretty things.

I love beauty and prettyness, but have quite my own idea of what beauty is. At least that is what Bertus thinks.
"Would you like robin's egg blue paint for the bedroom?"
Says he: "What?! I'd just go mad if you ever painted the bedroom that colour! You can use it for your studio if you really want it!"

Or, when walking trough the town, and I hold still before the shopwindow of my favorite shoeshop:
Me: "Do you like that golden booties?"
Bertus: "I would still love you if you wore them".

Here's just some pretty things from magazines:

Everything is Illuminated

Earlier today, I found these wonderful lamps, designed by Tord Boontje. I love their natural, stylish, not overloaded fairytale character.

They are so delicate. To me they prove that modern design doesn't need to be dead. These lamps lead a life of their own, they tell a story. What? They tell thousands of stories. Imagine...

You can buy these lamps here: http://www.gnr8.biz/categories.php for $ 59 !!!

Design

I'm quite into design lately. I think I might be posting more about the work of my favorite designers. I feel looking at other people's work helps me to develop and define my own style, up to a certain stage.

It has been snowing yesterday evening. Now for the first time this winter, the world around me is white. I can overlook our whole garden trough the window, while sitting at my desk. That is the way I like it to, for now: staying inside where it's warm, cozy and sleepy. While readnig this blog, I found this great online design store. They sell clothes, accessories, shoes, tableware, furniture, name it.

What is more is that they aren't expensive!

Lilly in a pond and...

Gustav was an odd little man, with greyish white hair and a small moustache. He lived in a small treehouse, somewhere in the back of a cloister's garden, at the edge of a town in southern Germany. He collected old phonebooks. This of course, not without a particular reason (Gustav believed everything had a reason). Gustav kept himself busy by searching for phonenumbers that were out of use.
In his treehouse he had shelves and shelves of phonebooks. Not only phonebooks from Germany, no, from the whole world.
In the garden, near to Gustav's tree, there was a pond. White lilies swam around in the greenish water.

Why Gustav collected these out-of-use phonenumbers, nobody has ever know. No doubt, he had a reason for doing so.

I feel like I start liking making the jewelry better than playing around with fabric... Maybe it is because I love to wear jewelry? But then... I'm also a handbag addict.
I don't know really. Maybe I just like to explore new media to express myself!
I have been doing quite a lot of sewing today. I'm working on a new dress. I really need to go to bed, it's ridiculously late. Tomorrow more sewing needs to be done and I need to find soft pink silk and light olive-grass green silk.
It seems as if last weeks, months even maybe, I can't seem to get my thoughts on anything together. I'm just messing around with stuff. I hardly finish any of the projects I really need to finish, but keep starting new ones all the time.
I guess I will need to start having a 'to-do' list again.
Goodnight!

Emma Cassi

I was looking for work of other jewelry designers on the internet, when I found Emma Cassi, a French jewellery designer.

She makes fantastic work. Her current collection makes me think about the fairytale of the Ice Queen. I love jewelry that tells a story. I like fluid borders between literature, art and jewelry.

I have been working on new pieces myself today. I hope to be putting them in the shop next week.

A real treasure...

Bombalurina makes the most wonderfull jewelry with vintage components, but I was just astonished to find this item in her shop:

The Marie Antoinette cuff is made with such rich colours and textiles, beads, and cameo's in such a combination it just makes my silent.

Late night finds on Etsy

Browsing trough Etsy while you should actually be asleep, can give some good results from time to time.
Tonight, I stumbled upon these absolute lovelies: the whimsical teapots by Deb Babcock. I really instantly fell in love with them. When I'm all grown up (lol) and have a house or appartment of my own, I so want to have one of these on my living room table at tea-time!
